Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102 powers India to eight-wicket T20I win

Debutant Naman Dhir takes three wickets as India chase down West Indies' 171 in 14.4 overs to lead the five-match series 1-0.

Lucknow: Shreyas Iyer smashed an unbeaten 102 after debutant Naman Dhir's three-wicket burst as India defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the opening T20I here on Tuesday.

Sent in to bat, West Indies posted 171 all out, a total India chased down in 14.4 overs, riding on Iyer's maiden T20I century to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Earlier, Shai Hope (52) and Sherfane Rutherford (56) added 63 off 35 balls, but India clawed back with four quick wickets. Rutherford and No. 10 batter Akeal Hosein (15) then mounted a late charge to take West Indies to 171 all out.

For India, Dhir (3/31) snared three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh (1/34), Axar Patel (2/26) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/33) also took wickets.
